Happy Halloween!

So we are a little late on the Halloween post. Ezra had a couple costume options. I had bought a cowboy costume last  year on clearance. But, mistakenly I bought Emerson's size, not his. With some alterations it could work. He was as cute as can be and he seemed gun ho on being a cowboy. His other option was a spider man costume we had for dress-up. I was more weary of Emerson who had started to not like dress-up because it was "itchy," and told me she wanted to dress up as herself for Halloween. So I put all my efforts into convincing her that her fairy costume was awesome.

I even looked up fairy face painting online and we came up with this. I added shimmer eye shadow and some sparkle gloss to make it exciting. She found a crown and determine she would be the queen fairy. Then after all that handwork Ezra was the one who refused his costume. He cried and cried.

So while I was taking Emerson's pictures before trick or treating Ezra was pouting on the porch.

We got into the posing

Luckily it was warm enough not to wear tights.

Finally Ezra was convinced to put his costume on, no mask. Here they are trick or treating at Mark's work. Obviously this was pre haircut. :)

Happy Halloween

We are behind on post to say the least. So instead of Christmas I have Halloween! The week before Halloween we went to Earthfare for their celebration. It was really hot so Ezra didn't wear his costume. He was sweating like crazy in a t-shirt. They enjoyed painting pumpkins. Emerson's dreams came true when she had her face painted.
I'm glad I took a picture of our her little gingham bows because they haven't been seen since that day. I loved the sign about the plastic bags. Ha!

The next week for the real Halloween Ezra got to dress up.

Ezra was our ferocious lion and had his roaring down pat.

Of course he was a companion to...
our Dorothy

The novelty of Ezra's costume wore off pretty quickly.

We went to storytime at the library and Ezra was not too comfortable around all the costumes. He was especially suspicious of a skeleton.

Emerson kept in character and found the witch!

Signing a fun song. At the end they trick or treated around the library. I was glad this year it wasn't full of candy. More stickers and non-sugary items. We had plenty of that already! The funniest thing that happened was when the kids trick or treated at Dad's work. Ezra saw a full bucket that was intended for kids to come by and grab a treat. He took one candy from his basket put it in that one. Then proceeded to take the completely full bucket with him. HA!

Halloween Part 2

halloweenboard
On Halloween we headed to Mark's work so Emerson could trick or treat there. When we were getting ready her pink dress was not dry yet so I was relieved she was excited to be Snow White. It matched Ezra's costume better anyways so it worked out well.  She really enjoyed grabbing some candy but was a little on the shy side with so much going on. She enjoyed a break half way through at Dad's desk and snacked on some candy.

Emerson didn't know what to think of scary costumes but she was fearless about going through the spiders! After we got enough candy we enjoyed some yummy ice cream.  It started raining pretty hard as we left and we got stuck in some nasty traffic. So we scratched trick or treating since both kids had colds.

But, that didn't dampen their spirits.  I must say they are pretty cute together.

Didn't she make a beautiful Snow White?!? Next year we will definitely trick or treat. I've already got her costume thanks to Target clearance and costumes in mind for the whole family.

Halloween Part 1

librarycollage
We got to celebrate Halloween early this year. The library had a Halloween themed trick or treat story time. We came straight from dance class so we barely made it in time.  Emerson was excited to meet up with her friend Addie. It was her birthday and Emerson was thrilled to say, "Happy Birthday Addie," for the 10th time this month.  Their eyes were glued to the dressed up librarians. They went over some fun rhymes, and a couple stories and at one point turned out the lights. I'm not sure the toddlers knew what to think about that. Afterwards there were bubbles as usual. I tried to get a picture of everyone, Ezra included. But, he scooted away and the chances of two toddlers looking at the same time is slim.

After storytime they had a parade around the library with trick or treat stations. Emerson was the kaboose and taking her sweet time.

Ezra was a great sport as a little clown. He enjoyed the storytime as much as anyone else.

After all the effort for Emerson to have a crown with her princess costume she didn't want to wear it. Go figure!

After she collected all the treats she sat down to enjoy her pretzels.

Halloween Part 2

A garden gnome in the pumpkin patch....well kinda.
Not too sure about this hat.
Trick or treat! Wouldn't have hurt them to include bloomers with this costume.
Please give this kid some candy!
Success!
Hanging with the Grandparents.
Ready for more houses!

Emerson had a great time trick or treating. I didn't even intend to take her house to house but once she did one she wanted more! She was a big girl walking up and down the street. Next year I'm sure she will love it even more since she has discovered they sweetness of candy. I didn't let her eat any that night, and she didn't really even know what it was. I'm a mean mommy but I have a hard enough time getting her to eat, I didn't want to throw her off even more. But, after a couple days of watching Mom and Dad she ate through the wrapper of a kit-kat and was pretty excited about it. Just as I expected she has asked for candy every day since then. Of course she says please in her sweet voice!

Halloween Part 1

Emerson had several days of Halloween celebration. So this is part 1 of our fun. This year she was a Garden Gnome! (Not to be confused with an elf.) I loved, loved her costume. Couldn't have been better. She did get irritated when I put the dress on her. She found it restricted. But, surprisingly wore the hat. Which pretty much made the outfit.  On Friday we went to Mark's work to trick or treat there. Emerson was a little hesitant, wondering how everyone knew her name, and why are these people dressed all crazy. She quickly got into the swing of things. Digging into the candy!

Although she didn't get the point that you take on and move on. She wanted to sort through it, play in it, and take about 10 pieces. Luckily she is cute!
I don't think Emerson even knows what candy is but she had a fun time with the bright colored wrappers. Her favorite was red!

Her costume was a big hit and she loved walking around with her pumpkin.
Last it was time to head downstairs for some ice cream. Note the cute gnome shoes! Not made for good traction though.  Emerson had pumpkin ice cream and loved it. She kept asking for more and more. I think she ate more than anyone.

Yummy! This Halloween thing isn't too bad! Next up Halloween Day festivities.

Happy late Halloween!

Happy Halloween a couple days late! We spent our afternoon at a fundraiser for The Birth Center. Emerson got to see her midwives again and we had fun hanging out on a real farm.
Emerson enjoyed the festivities until she got stun by a bee. Ouch! Right on knuckle. Poor little Emerson's hand was swollen and red. So she was on and off crabby which is understandable. Who likes getting stun by a bee?

She did enjoy the bunnies. I'm not sure they enjoyed her screaming at them though.

Look, we're farmers!

Instead of a traditional costume Emerson sported Halloween themed attire. Next year we'll go all out. Friday she did wear a pumpkin costume to go trick or treating with Dad at work. Sadly no pictures though. Don't you wish you could see Mark dressed as a foreclosed home? Haha.
Emerson got to go on her second hayride of the year. She is so experienced. Along the way the farmer gave us a tour of the farm. Emerson spent the ride pulling the little girl's piggy tails beside us. At what point her 2 year old brother said, "Be nice baby!" Hmmm.
Mark got charged by a cow when he decided to jump off the hayride and go rogue. I thought the cows were just adorable. They were very short and fluffy, because they were a specific breed. This made it even more disturbing to me when the farmer talked about how good they tasted. Yep, sadly they were beef cows. I wonder how much it would cost to buy him so he could come live with us. :) Look at his sweet little face.
He gave us his model pose.

At the end we had some yummy carrot cake and Emerson did something completely out of the ordinary. She jumped into a strangers' lap! We were sitting on bench and she decided he should hold her. Ha! I guess she has a thing for beards and tattoos.
