Baby's First Christmas Festivities

This past weekend was jam packed with christmas festivities. Emerson was still quite the trooper I thought toughing out 5 separate activities on Saturday alone. Although she didn't have a good nap at all on Saturday which I'm afraid has become all too common. But, I learned several things about Emerson this weekend.
  1. She really hates Santa Claus in person
  2. She loves Christmas music!
  3. She likes Santa if he is in the minature dancing form.

We took Emerson to Mark's work Christmas party where the little kiddies were allowed to scream sit on Santa's lap. I wasn't going to go the mall for Emerson to see Santa so we figured this was a good opportunity. One look at the big guy in red and she had a complete meltdown. We even have a picture to document the baby torture. I'm talking all out crying and streaming tears.

You would think after we removed her from Santa's arms it would fix the problem but she was left traumatized. The rest of our time there she kept leering over her shoulder to keep an eye on that creepy Santa guy. At least she got a stuffed little gingerbread man out of it.
On a happier note it seems Emerson is a dancing queen. Remember way back when I said I thought she maybe into music? Of course I was right. :) She has been dancing and clapping to all kinds of music including Christmas. It is perhaps the cutest thing I have ever seen. This brings me to my third point where she likes the dancing form of Santa. She enjoyed a lot of time dancing to the tune of Jingle Bell Rock and giving Santa some applause. I really didn't think Emerson would be into Christmas this year but it has been so much fun seeing her experience it for the first time. Speaking of first she just tried to get into her stocking. Oh dear.

I guess there is a chance

Maybe today is my lucky day that I will win one of these computers at Mckmama's or Kelly's Korner. I can't tell you how many blog giveaways I have entered and never won but fingers crossed.

Oh Christmas Tree

We finally got our christmas tree up after much debating and planning. We do in fact have a little one that gets into everything. One who can easily stand up and reach anything within 2 and 1/2 feet. So imagine our worry we when the thought of a tree standing in water, covered in glass, and electrical cords could possibly in our living room. After much thought we got a smaller than usual tree so it could fit in the corner behind the couches. Emerson hasn't been interested in it other than when I took this picture and she was sitting on the couch and turned around to grab a branch. So almost perfect! I'm glad our household is festive. Speaking of festive I hope you are enjoying the christmas themed blog design and some holiday tunes!

Put a Sling On

Gone Bananas!

So I've gotten pretty use to the question, "She isn't eating food yet?!?" Nope, just milk. "No, cereal??." Nope, just milk. "What about teething biscuits?" Nope, just milk. Haha. Don't feel sorry for us though. It's been considerably cheaper since I don't have to spend a dime on breastmilk. Also since my gym going days have been on pause for about a year, nursing has helped me to lose all the baby weight and then some. Best workout ever. Anyways I decided to let Little E. play with some bananas. If you thought I was exaggerating when I said she isn't interested in food. Take a look.
Check out her cool new bib.
Hmmm...What is this stuff?
I'm not sure about this.
Ick!
Yep, this is boring!
So I decided to stick a little in her mouth since the baby who puts everything in her mouth wouldn't dare put the bananas in. You can see she isn't thrilled!
Yuck!
I think I'm going to be sick!
Food isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I guess I'll play with the highchair instead.

Oh well. I guess I can continue to stuff my face with holiday goodies since I'm the sole food supply for a 15lb baby! Talk about a calorie burner.

9 month check-up

I'm a little behind since her appointment was on Friday but with all the decorating and baby chasing I've been busy. Mark got to escort us to Emerson's appointment this time so she was pretty happy. I dressed E. in red cords and a christmas shirt with glittery pink and all kinds of girlyness and the nurse still said HE. Urgggh. Seriously? Oh well, next time I guess she'll have to wear a huge bow whether she likes it or not. Emerson weighed 14lb 140z, gaining quite more than I expected. She is 27.5 inches tall leaving her 50th% in height and under 5th % in weight. No surprise there! There was a med student there who Emerson wasn't too found of. Ha. She had a breakdown when she touched her. Emerson only had one shot and there was less crying with the shot than when she was being examined. Go figure. I love Doctors appointments simply for the fact I totally trust Emerson's pediatrician and I know she will give us good advice, not guilt trip us, and actually make us feel like everything is normal. We explained to her our sleeping dilemma of the constant wake-ups and super early mornings. She said Emerson is discovering that she can keep herself awake which is a big developmental milestone. Yay???? So hopefully we can find a balance between sufficient napping and a normal bedtime. Or else we are going to have to start our day at 5am. I guess Emerson doesn't know Mom isn't an early bird. On a more positive development Emerson is now signing for milk. It is so cute. I can't believe how quickly she picked it up. I guess I should learn something else to teach her since she is so smart! Perhaps "Go go sleep!" Hehe.

9 months

These days I'm not above bribery to take picture of my very active 9 month old. When I say she is always on the go I'm not exaggerating. So I gave her one of her hair clips that I made her.

It worked for about a minute.
She not only broke the bow from the clip but I have no idea where that clip is.

Isn't this a good look? She came up with it all on her own.
Miss Emerson, did you just eat that bow?

I then proceeded to pry the bow out of her mouth while she clinched her jaws down hard. She has gotten rather good at that.
At the end I have taken 100 pictures, with only a handful useable.

Does anyone have any ideas to preoccupy a baby to take some good photos? Because I'm all ears. I have no idea why this is underlining but I can't fix it. Oh well!

Sums it up

I think this pretty much sums up how Emerson feels about me taking her picture now days. At least she looks cute!

Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday baby! Emerson is now 9 months old and 75% of the way to being 1. Can you believe it? This last time year I was quite big and Emerson was bouncing around in my tummy at the sound of Christmas music and all the sweets I was eating. As you can tell by the pictures above she has changed quite a bit. I thought she was into as much as she could get a month ago but I was wrong. She is into more! She is crawling around even faster, standing up rather well, and climbing everything in her path. She still predominantly does the army crawl but can also do all fours if she chooses. Now she can get down from standing to sitting which I think is a big accomplishment. She can cruise a little bit around the couch and ottoman, working on those walking skills. In combination with that if she hears music she bounces up and down. Too cute. She is constantly chasing us and climbing our legs. Subtle, huh? Emerson babbles, grunts, giggles a lot. She is saying mama rather frequently along with the dadadas, and bababas. She's such a happy girl and is smiling all the time and claps when she gets excited. It's more of a closed hand clap instead of the regular kind. She also waves by flapping her arm up and down. Her favorite activities include swinging in the park, playing with her hairbrush, being tossed in the air, tearing up paper, pushing buttons, and chasing the dog. I think in a few years we might be in trouble with how much she loves animals. Always guaranteed to get a smile and squeals of excitement. I think she has grown a lot in the last month just due to how her clothes have been fitting or should I say not fitting? We are going to the pediatrician on Friday for her weigh in. Any guesses? At 7 months she was 13lbs. I'm going to guess 14lb 5oz. But, don't go off me. I was way off last time.
Happy Birthday Emerson Kaye. You are such a joy in our lives.

Apples

So, if you were looking to get Emerson a present she'll take apples. Not to eat silly but to play with. We gave her one this w.e. and it kept her occupied for a very long time. It's like her own baby size ball! She carried it around while crawling. Threw it, chased it. Wow, if I knew this was all it took to keep her out of trouble I would have tried it a long time ago.
