Dance started back up in September. Would you believe this is her third year?!? She's planning on going pro by 6. Emerson's still sporting the puppy dog pose from last year. Fitting for the puppy leotard.

1st Day of Preschool
Emerson has never been to an official preschool. This year we were able to join a preschool co-op at our church. So Miss E. will go to "school" one day a week and she couldn't be more thrilled. She really wanted to ride the school bus her first day. Hehe.
Happy Pose
Thoughtful Pose
Freestyle pose followed by I'm soooo excited pose.
Emerson had worship, a letter class, and a music/movement class. When I asked her what she did she said, "Awesome things." Her only complaint was she couldn't go on Friday.

This girl
This girl cracks me up. So I thought I would share some of the things that come out of her mouth.
Fishing for compliments
Emerson requested to "fix" my hair. She spent time "braiding" it. When she was done she went up the stairs and turned to me and said, "Mommy, did you braid your hair all by yourself? You did a great job."
"No, Emerson you did my hair."
Emerson, "Oh, well thank you Mommy."
Dessert anyone
Emerson asked me what kind of ice cream would I like. I thought we were playing a pretend game so I got along and say strawberry. Then she agrees that strawberry is a great flavor. She asks me if we have any and when I say no she tells me I can go to the store and buy some since I want it. Did I just get swindled into buying ice cream??
Story time
The other night I was reading to the kids before bedtime. Ezra picks out a fairly long Cars book that has all the sound buttons.
"Ezra that's loud for tonight."
Emerson: "Mom, you don't have to push them then."
"Thanks smarty."
Emerson: "My name's not Marty. When I was a baby you didn't name me Marty you named me Emerson."
"Thanks for clearing that up."
Dress-up
Me: "Is that what you are wearing?"
Emerson: "Yes, I'm going to look ridiculous all day."
Agreed

Put on your dancing shoes
In June Emerson was in her first recital ever! Her class worked hard and was a part of huge production. She was puppy in The Wizard of Oz. Here she is at rehearsals with her friend from class. She was a little reluctant until she saw all her buddies there. Look at that grin!
Here are the girls post rehearsal in character
The actual recital was the following week. Here we are doing last minute make-up backstage. Emerson was mesmerized by the older girls getting ready.
Here is a backstage shot captured by the photographers there.
She was pretty wound up afterwards and thrilled about getting flowers. Ezra was delirious at this point. Congratulations Emerson on your first recital!
We moved!
So we have had a long blogging break. In the middle of packing up everything we own and moving into a new place there wasn't much spare time. Here is a picture of the kids at their last day in the house. They went on a little vaca for a couple days while we did the whole moving process so I wanted them to have closure. I told Emerson to say goodbye to her house and she responded, "But, the house can't talk. "
They have adjusted pretty well after the first week and I think now feel at home. I tried to get a similar picture at our new front door.
But, Emerson thought I wanted a dance routine.
And Ezra went with it.

Take my picture
Lately Emerson has gotten into having her picture taken. I adore this sweet shot here.
Then of course back to her goof self.
She was satisfied with one or two pictures. She kept posing and eventually all she was doing was making kissing faces at the camera. Over and over again. I'm not sure who taught her to pucker up.
Then I asked her to take a look down so I could do a eye lash shot. This is what happened. Haha.

Best Friends
These girls are two of a kind. Lovers of princesses, pink, Rapunzel, and Dora. Fellow speedy scooter riders.
So, it's only logical that they would be best friends. It's so sweet to see friendships emerge and memories made.

Emerson turns Four
I thought I would share a little about what Emerson is up to since she four now. Weighing in at 28lbs she is the 3rd% for her age. So still tiny! If you can't tell by the picture above she is still into princess just a bit. She loves to dress up in creative ways and has a big imagination. Emerson still has her own mind about what she wants to wear. She will wear the same dress over, and over. She likes the pick out her own unique combinations and prefers skirts and dresses year round. Lately she has gotten very into pretend play and re-enacts scenes from her favorite movies. She has memorized all the lines to Brave, and Rapunzel. With the addition of a bow and arrow we have a real Merida on our hands. She also tells me quite often she is getting married soon and tells me certain outfits are "married dresses." Emerson is a social girl and can make friends in any situation. She introduces herself to almost everyone we meet, even at the grocery store. Emerson loves family and talks constantly about her cousins. Lately she has become very attached the dog and insist on dressing her up and walking her with the leash around the house. She even tied Mia to her bed so she wouldn't go anywhere.
Emerson loves to draw, and color. I love the way she puts together colorful combinations and draws people. She is very proud of her artwork and likes to hang everything on the fridge. She is very intense when coloring or putting together a craft. Because of her particular tendencies she can get rather frustrated if things aren't quite right. This girl has a temper that is for sure.
I think the way she communicates has changed so much in the past year. She sounds very grown up. Sometimes she will be so grateful for the littlest things and say, "Oh thank you Mommy!" if she finds a shirt that I got her 6 months ago. It cracks me up. Emerson will also repeat rules back to us that we have made or she will tell us that, "God wants us to share." That is when I have chocolate or something that she wants. She is also starting to remember things from a year or more ago. She can remember the outfit she was wearing when she got sick three months ago! I'm not sure I remember what I wore yesterday. Emerson adores her family and loves that she has a lot of cousins. Most days she loves on Ezra and calls him my Ezra. But, there are others when she tells me she wants a sister instead. Here are few things she says a bit funny that I want to remember because I'm sure they'll change before next year.
Real Word - Emerson Word
Suitcase - Cusecase
Unicorn - Cuncicorn
Ice cream- Owce cream
She also says "What you say?," with a confused look when she doesn't understand. Last week I was teaching her the cubbies verse, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" To which she responded, " I know Hosanta! He brought me presents last year. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this nut.
