9 Weeks 1 Day

The baby who is now about the size of an olive is now officially a fetus! So now he/she looks more baby like and less alien like. I'm not sure if he is starting to push my belly out a tad or I've just had too many crackers. :)

What I've learned

So I've learned quite a few things over the past few weeks. Unfortunately I haven't been able to post in 2 weeks because the baby has been kicking my butt. Anyways here is my new found insight.

  1. Drinking orange juice on an empty stomach is not a good idea
  2. Chocolate milk on an empty stomach is also a bad idea
  3. Vegetables are not appetizing in the least
  4. Ginger Ale will help with nausea but cause indigestion
  5. Food cravings on the "do not eat" list aren't fair
  6. Grilled cheese is the best food ever!

Baby Landis has a heartbeat!

7 weeks 1 day
Today I had an ultrasound and we got to see the flicker of the little bean's heart beating. The nurse also turned on the doppler and we heard it. A solid 135 beats per minute. I know ultrasounds can be hard to read so I'll try to translate. The cross on the right side is the head, the one of the left is the tail. The little semi-circle below is the amniotic sac. It was pretty encouraging to see something a lot bigger than last time. Afterwards I got a whole spill on what I can and can't do. Plus lots of free books and pamphlets. Then I got 8 vials of blood taken, which was not too fun. Anyways we are super excited to see that the little one is growing and it all is starting to feel very real now!

Hello Blueberry

7 week belly
Today I'm seven weeks and our little one is the size of a blueberry. My bloating has actually gone down so I think I might be smaller than I was last week. Or that might just be wishful thinking seeing as I couldn't button my jeans this weekend. Thank goodness for rubberbands!

So Hungry!

It's not even 12 and I've already had breakfast, a snack, and lunch. The sad part is I'm still hungry! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who actually has an appetite the first trimester but this is getting hard to maintain. I think we might run out of food. :) On top of that I think I want to take a nap.

Pregnancy Fun

Last week began the oh so interesting food cravings. I always thought I would be a super healthy eater when pregnant. Not so lucky so far. First was greasy Japanese. Something I can eat occasionally but, usually only go when Mark wants it. Second was garlic bread. Pretty strange since I rarely eat it. The most recent is the weirdest of all. Hot dog with chili. Maybe not bizarre for most pregant women but, most people who know me know that I don't eat beef or pork. Honestly the last time I had a hotdog was probably 7 years ago. So you can imagine the look Mark gave me when that came out of my mouth. The cruel thing is I can't even eat hot dogs!

6 weeks

So I'm 6 weeks today. Our little one is the size of sweet pea. Obviously my stomach looks the same since it is all bloat at this point. But, I posted the pics anyway for reference. The other picture is suppose to illustrate the size of Baby Landis. Next week is our 7 week ultrasound where we will hear the heartbeat! It can't get here fast enough. I'll definitely post pictures of our little bean.

Baby books

I finally got some pregnancy books! Yesterday I borrowed 3 and received 1 in the mail. I still have 3 coming. Maybe a little overkill. But hopefully it will enlighten me. Marlow has really enjoyed them. He thinks they are his new bed.

Chinese Gender Prediction

So according to ancient chinese methods we're having a boy! Although this is completely silly it's fun to think about. I do have a strong feeling it is a boy. We'll see if mothers intuition holds true.
